Dr. Hala Abdel Khalek
Chairman of the Board of Trustees
Dr. Hala Abdel Khaleq has made significant contributions in the fields of community development, disability inclusion and business consulting. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Economics at the American University, and obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Economics and a Master’s in Business Administration in 2000. She is now enrolled in the program Doctorate in Public Administration with a focus on mental health for leaders at CBU, California, USA. From 1994 to 2000, Dr. Hala worked as an Assistant Professor, teaching Econometrics, Production Operations, and Cost Accounting at both AUC and MIU, during which time she honed her expertise in these subjects with her passion for teaching and sharing knowledge. Dr. Hala’s personal life played an important role in shaping her dedication to the inclusion of people with disabilities. She is a proud mother of four with her eldest daughter, Jamila, born in 1996 in Florida. Gamila’s diagnosis with Down Syndrome ignited Hala’s passion for advocating for the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities, making her a pioneer in Egypt. Hala began her career developing the public health sector in Egypt, where she worked with USAID and the Ministry of Health. She worked as the Director of Social Marketing and Public Relations, where she contributed to the growth and awareness of health initiatives. In 2000, Hala played a pivotal role in establishing the largest children’s cancer hospital in the Middle East, 57357, as director of the European and Middle East fundraising campaign.
Hala received certification as a business strategist and balanced performance consultant from George Washington University and the Balanced Performance Institute in 2007. In parallel with her consulting work, Hala founded the Weyana International Foundation for Awareness and Inclusion of People with Disabilities, with a focus on advocacy and awareness raising. This organization works as a platform to promote the rights and inclusion of individuals with disabilities in Egypt. In 2011, Hala was appointed as the first Minister of Persons with Disabilities in Egypt. She also founded and served as the first minister of the National Council for Disability Affairs of the Egyptian Prime Minister from 2011 to 2014. These roles allowed her to formulate policies and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of people with disabilities in Egypt, such as the 12 amendments to the Egyptian Constitution and the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities that were made. It was drafted while she was in government office. In 2010, Hala established brain and mental health clinics, known as 360 Clinics, which use American-Canadian technology for brain and mind health, including neurofeedback and biofeedback techniques. These clinics have made a significant impact in Egypt and the Middle East and North Africa region. In addition, Hala established the Special Olympics Egypt chapter in 2010, demonstrating its commitment to empowering individuals with disabilities through sports and promoting a sense of community. Hala Abdel Khaleq’s tireless efforts in the fields of mental health, disability inclusion, and business consulting have left an indelible mark on society. Her dedication, expertise, and compassion continue to inspire positive change and create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all.

Ikramy El-Shibiny holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Cairo University and is the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tatweer Agencies and Trade Company. Ekrami has long experience in trade around the world, having imported and exported goods to many countries.

Dr. Mahmoud Khattab

Dr. Mahmoud Khattab holds a PhD from the University of Washington, a Master’s in Business Administration from City University in the United States of America, and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Cairo University. Before his appointment as Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO in 1997, Khattab was Director of Marketing at the Engineering Products and Agencies Company EPACo, the trading and distribution company of Group Olympic and the exclusive agent for many international brands. He was responsible for all marketing activities of the company, including planning, developing, implementing and monitoring the marketing strategy. Comprehensive business as well as conducting market research and keeping up with competitors’ status. Prior to his role as Marketing Director, Khattab served as General Manager of Philips Home Appliances and Personal Care and won the Outstanding Performance Award in 1994 in Singapore at the Annual Distributors Conference. In 1989 and for 3 years, Khattab was the General Manager of Walls and Floors which was a new business model for retail business at that time and during this period it specialized in wall and floor coverings and home accessories. In public service, Dr. Mahmoud Khattab served on the Board of Directors of the Canadian International College, the Egyptian Young Business Association (EJB), the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, and the Olympic Group, also as a member of the Trade Modernization Committee.

Amr Al-Ganzouri holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and has long experience in the field of petroleum. He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of Karna Oil Services Company (Free Zone). Amr achieved many successes at Karna Company for many years in the field of petroleum.

Salim Mohamed holds postgraduate studies in the field of investment and finance and a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Cairo University. He is a consultant to the Holding Company for Chemical Industries for merchant affairs, a member of the Board of Directors of MediGate Egypt – Progel Holding Abu Dhabi, the Executive Secretary and a member of the Board of Directors of the Cooperative Housing Association for workers at the Chemical Holding Company, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Workers Housing Association in Chema Aswan. He previously worked as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Director in the East. The Middle East (Abu Dhabi Holding – Egypt) 2020 Financial and administrative advisor to Abnaa Al Wadi Investment Company S.A.C. 2016 and commercial advisor to Dar Al Arab Group in Saudi Investment Company (S.C.) joint venture

Basma El Rafei holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, specializing in ceramics, and worked as a teacher for 8 years in Kuwait. She was also deputy director of the Queen Noor Al Hussein Foundation in Jordan, a volunteer at the Special Son Society in Dokki, and an art teacher at the American School Modern Cairo in Cairo.

Noha Rushdy is a seasoned teacher, having worked as a classroom teacher for 20 years abroad as well as in Egypt. Her last position was at Cairo American School CAC, where she taught students in pre-kindergarten. Neha found a new passion in personal and community development. She is now Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cairo Women’s Association WA. Neha is also a member of the Board of Directors of Colors and Strings (a non-governmental organization), and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Wayana Foundation. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the American University in Cairo in Mass Communication. She is a certified Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Enneagram practitioner

Dr. Heba Hafez
Board Advisor
Dr. Heba Hafez holds a doctorate from the University of Calgary in Canada, and a master’s and bachelor’s degree from the American University in Cairo. Dr. Heba has a long history spanning more than 30 years of working in USAID and United Nations projects. She is also the founder and CEO of the Ataa Charitable Investment Fund to support people with disabilities. Dr. Heba works as a university professor, having taught at the University of Calgary in Canada, the American University in Cairo, the British University in Egypt, and Cairo University. Heba Hafez is also an international communications expert, having worked as Communications Director for the Middle East and Africa region at 26COP and 27COP of the United Nations. Dr. Heba also held the position of communications director at the Long Live Egypt Fund affiliated with the Egyptian Council of Ministers. In addition, Dr. Heba has established partnerships with multiple stakeholders including the World Health Organization, USAID, European Union, UNIDO, UN-Habitat, US Chamber of Commerce, Pharco, and the Gearhart Center at American University In Cairo, the United Nations Development Programme, CARE, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, public libraries, urban development, General Dynamix, and the Arab Organization. Association, Rotary, banks, Vodafone, Pepsi, Uniliver, Egyptian Radio and Television, national and international NGOs, and universities. Dr. Heba also participated as a speaker in more than 22 academic, professional, local and international conferences.
