Our Pioneering Achievements and Activities that helped improve the quality of life for all Egyptians
Since the establishment of Wayana International Foundation, we have executed and are executing a number of projects for our beneficiaries, with the goal to increase their individual capacities, develop their creativity and enable better social inclusion. We have paid special attention to organizing conferences and various celebrations that take care of people with disabilities and their families, in order to constantly be in touch with the Egyptian community to better defend their rights.
Here’s are some of our greatest successes
1. Wayana International Foundation organized an entertainment day in cooperation with the Al-Takaddam Foundation for families of children with disabilities to spend an entertainment day at the Swiss-Inn Hotel to relieve the societal burdens that the families suffer through on a daily basis. At the same time, the children got to spend a wonderful day at horseback riding in 2008.
2. Wayana International Foundation participated in the activities of the Fourth Assiut Festival for artistic creativity for the gifted and people with disabilities, which was organized by the Women’s Association in Assiut, headed by Prof. Ali Al-Husseini, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Women’s Association. A large gathering of associations and institutions working in the field of people with special needs and public figures from the media participated in this festival and artists. The festival aims to highlight the artistic talents and special abilities of our children in 2008.
3. Wayana International Foundation participated in the World Down Syndrome Day in Alexandria in coordination with the Rotaract clubs, where the Foundation transported children and their families to Alexandria and participated in various recreational and artistic activities on that day in 2009.
4. Wayana International Foundation organized its first conference under the title “The First Regional Conference for Businessmen to Integrate Persons with Disabilities in the Labor Market” at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. In 2009, which discussed the integration of persons with disabilities in the labor market and the problems that prevent persons with disabilities and their integration into society and the labor market.
5. Wayana International Foundation held the first employment forum for people with disabilities in Egypt under the name of “The Day of Loyalty” under the slogan “I am able… I am a producer… I am a partner in society” in 2010 at Cairo University under the auspices of:
Minister Prof. Dr. Hani Helal – Higher Education
Minister Prof. Dr. Ali Moselhi – Social Solidarity
Minister Prof. Dr. Ahmed Darwish – Local Development
Prof. Dr. Safwat Al-Nahhas, head of the Central Agency for Organization and Administration
And under the auspices of many companies (Juhayna – B.TECH – In House – Vodafone – Betty – Rich Bake – Moamen – Menlo – Farm Frites)
6. Wayana International Foundation held annual parties on Mother’s Day to honor the mothers of children with disabilities.
7. Wayana International Foundation’s early intervention centers organized monthly trips for children with disabilities who are enrolled in it with their brothers to many recreational and educational places.
8. Wayana International Foundation organized the “Muscular Dystrophy between Reality and Hope” conference in Beheira Governorate, and the Foundation distributed 5 wheelchairs for unable muscular dystrophy patients in 2014.
9. Wayana International Foundation held an entertainment day for the inclusion of children with disabilities under the slogan “The best companions in our differences, we complement each other” under the sponsorship of (B.TECH – Menlo – Farm Frites) companies, in the presence of 300 children with disabilities and children without disabilities in KidZania in 2015.
10. Wayana International Foundation participated in organizing the celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in cooperation with Helwan University for two consecutive years 2015-2016.
11. Wayana International Foundation participated in the Global Compact’s “Egyptian Business for Peace” celebration of Ramadan 2018. The United Nations Global Compact represents a call to action for sustainable business, as well as a leadership platform for developing, implementing and disclosing responsible corporate practices. This event was a great opportunity to bring together institutions and member organizations to cooperate together for the better development of the activities of each institution.
12. On Friday 16/3/2018, Wayana International Foundation held a symposium and workshop on the rights of people with disabilities and an explanation of the disability law and the gains obtained by people with disabilities from it, as well as ways of communication within the family. Mrs. Yusriya Abu Zeid, Executive Director of the Foundation, Mrs. Rasha Ernst, Director of Culture and Arts Department at the National Council for Disability Affairs, Mrs. Dalia Atef, Director of Women and Children Department at the National Council for Disability Affairs, Dr. Osama Tolba, International Lecturer and Assistant Secretary-General For the Syndicate of Human Development Trainers in Egypt all participated in this symposium.
Meanwhile, the plastic artist Salma Ahmed and the plastic artist Maria Morris, with the help of a group of volunteers at Wayana International Foundation, presented a number of artistic activities, accompanied by children with disabilities; they then performed a number of musical and lyrical activities as an entertainment program for children.
13. Attending the First Arab Forum, at the kind invitation of the Presidency of the Republic of Egypt, for the conference (Education with Special Needs and Inclusion) under the patronage and presence of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in Sharm El-Sheikh. Mrs. Yusriya Abu Zeid, the current Executive Director of our Foundation, represented Wayana International Foundation for Awareness and Integration of Persons with Disabilities in Society.
14. Attending the meeting of the United Nations Population Fund, at the kind invitation of the Belgian Embassy and the United Nations, the Wayana International Foundation for Awareness and Integration of Persons with Disabilities in Society, to attend a conference on the population, with the presence of Ms. Yusriya Abu Zeid, the current Executive Director of our Foundation. We were proud to encounter so many inspiring men and women, and to hear about the current global situation in Egypt in the field of family planning, fertility, and the issues facing young women and adolescents.
15. The Wayana International Foundation participated in the Creative Education Summit Forum, which was held at the guest house at Ain Shams University on November 17 and 18, 2018. It is an annual summit that brings together people interested in education improvement, and gives the opportunity for owners of startups – in the field – to promote their innovative ideas and reach clients, investors, educators, researchers, students of faculties of education, and anyone who is interested in the latest tools and strategies in educational technology.
16. Wayana International Foundation for Social Integration and Awareness, in cooperation with the CSR Egypt Foundation, organized a workshop on inclusive education through the activities of the “First Arab Forum for People with Special Successes” at the Tulip Golden Plaza Hotel. On Wednesday 12/12/2018, which discussed the inclusion of persons with disabilities in education and the problems that prevent persons with disabilities and their inclusion in education in a symposium entitled “The Role of Civil Society in the Education of People with Disabilities”.
