In an attempt to enhance inclusion, provide equal opportunities, and integrate them into society, Beltone and Wayana succeeded in employing nine people with Down Syndrome and mild mental disability in the positions of “reception – human resources – archiving – accounts – public relations.” Wayana’s training and employment program includes several vital pillars. Quality while catering to individual training needs are Wayana’s main pillars for diversity. Wayana’s trigger is to demonstrate the capabilities of people with Down Syndrome and their essential role in society. Regardless of being able to accommodate basic tasks with their extreme emotional abundance and intelligence, they turn any corporate environment into a more inclusive, accepting, loving, caring one, which helps big time in team building, empowering spirits that corporates strive to induce within their culture. Since the obstacle is not in our children, but in society. More than 350 employees within Beltone Financial Holding Company were qualified over the course of 10 awareness sessions provided by the Wayana Foundation; to promote inclusivity and ensure a welcoming environment. In this step:

  • Developing their awareness of the capabilities of Down Syndrome.
  • Training on etiquette for dealing with people with Down syndrome in the work environment.
  • Introducing new employees to those working within the company to learn about each person’s capabilities and the extent of their excellence in other fields.

After that training and qualification; 9 people with Down syndrome and mild mental disabilities signed employment contracts to work within Beltone Financial Company. This pioneering initiative not only empowers individuals with Down Syndrome, but also highlights their valuable contributions to the workforce.
